UIPM 2026 Pentathlon World Cup Budapest: Bohm (HUN) and Dogue (GER) stand out in Men’s Qualification
Csaba Bohm of Hungary was one of four runaway victors in the Men’s Qualification round at UIPM 2026 Pentathlon World Cup Budapest.
There was an unprecedented entry of 135 athletes, meaning 99 would fall short of earning a second run-out in Friday‘s Semi-finals.
But there was no danger of Bohm (HUN) being one of them as the 2024 world champion led his group home, following in the footsteps of Omar Amer of Egypt, Marvin Faly Dogue of Germany and Yuriy Kovalchuk of Ukraine in Groups A-C respectively.
Amer (EGY) emerged from 5th to score an impressive 1,603 points in winning Group A, passing Korea duo Woongtae Jun and Changwan Seo as they conserved energy for the decisive rounds. Having performed well in Fencing with 26 victories, Valentin Belaud of France fell in Obstacle and was unable to start the final three disciplines.

In Group B, two-time Olympian Dogue (GER) won by 5sec from Ivan Khamtsou of Belarus, with Mohamed El Ashqar (EGY) finishing next after another blistering Obstacle time. Kovalchuk (UKR) was more dominant in Group C as he finished on 1,602 points having scored 24 Fencing wins and kept himself in the top 10 for both Obstacle and Swimming.
The main local interest surrounded Group D, where Mihaly Koleszar (HUN) stayed in contention with a solid 4th place, 10sec behind Bohm (HUN).
In the final analysis, four nations (Czechia, France, Germany and Hungary) managed to secure four places each in the Semi-finals.
