UIPM 2026 Pentathlon U17 World Championships: Germany strike first in Men’s Relay
The first gold medal of the UIPM 2026 Pentathlon U17 World Championships went to Germany, with Valentin Rovinolo and Luis Thieke winning the Men’s Relay in Kaunas (LTU).
The German duo claimed the world title with a 5sec margin of victory over Italy, who had a bigger cushion ahead of bronze medallists Korea.
Every discipline was won by a different nation, with Kazakhstan scoring highest in Fencing with 16V/10D, before the Germans claimed the honours in Obstacle Racing but only by a thin margin from Lithuania and Hungary in a combined time of 46.87sec.
Swimming was dominated by Poland, who timed 50.94sec, and the best Laser Run performance came from the silver medallists, with Tommaso Tuccimei (ITA) and Riccardo Spagnolini (ITA) scorching the course in 8min 03.90sec. The overall quality of Hyunkyu Shin and Dongwon Kim saw bronze go to Korea as they held off the challenge of Egypt and Ukraine.
